The Psychology of Destructive Government Interventionism
Posted by Robert Meyer in Personal Liberty and Freedom, Personal Strategies on August 22nd, 2009
Let me ask you these questions. Do you really believe government solutions to our economic crisis will result in a recovery? Are you allowing government illusions to influence how you handle your personal and financial affairs? I certainly hope not.
Did you know that the science of human action (praxeology) and its better-known part economics conclusively proves that all forms of interference with the marketplace is self-defeating and doomed to failure? Still, so-called “intellectuals” continue to be hard-core supporters and initiators of government “solutions” to our economic woes. Tragically, they have convinced the masses that government “help” is the cure to all their financial problems.
Envy
Everyone knows the negative emotion of envy pollutes a person’s peace of mind. Feelings of envy unleashed and put into action are detrimental to all involved—including its purveyor. When individuals succumb to their negative emotions in personal relationships they cause themselves and others—sometimes those closest to them—much hurt, pain and disharmony. Once government institutionalizes envy in the form of massive spending programs that transfer wealth from the productive to the non-productive; the social costs are steep enough to destroy the fabric of any “society.”
I certainly understand the negative emotion of envy. Individuals have the unfortunate habit of comparing themselves with others. This is especially so in their comparisons with “the Jones.” How painful it is to see others succeeding while they suffer through a life of struggle and want. Sadly, most are unable to look within to discover the root of their lack—the cause of what is preventing them from obtaining what they so much desire. Instead they look for answers outside of themselves. They seek scapegoats—people they can blame for their own deficiencies.
Politicians “earn” their living by playing the old game of “switcheroo.” In this cannibalistic game of sacrifice, they transform victims into victimizers and visa versa. They feed the innocent to the guilty. Unfortunately, for us, there are an abundance of politicians unscrupulous enough to find scapegoats, innocent victims they sacrifice to satisfy the needs of envious constituents. Honestly, in our world of massive government interventionism, is anyone’s life, liberty and property safe from these predators?
Hate
Underlying the negative emotion of envy is the often-entrenched feelings of hate, submerged somewhere below the surface of a person’s consciousness. Usually, a person unconsciously transforms hate into other more socially acceptable negative emotions such as envy, jealousy, covetousness, etc. For obvious reasons, most people attempt to hide their hatred of everything that is good, beautiful and sublime. In fact, it is doubtful they are consciously aware of it. Let’s face it. Most of us aren’t introspective enough to come face to face with our own inner ugliness. It’s the rare bird who actively displays his hatred and wears it as a badge of honor.
Altruists, absolute moralists, do-gooders and world improvers “sublimate” their hatred into socially acceptable activities that appeal to the envy of the masses. This way they can pretend that they are “saviors” of the world—that they are actually concerned, loving people who only want to help others. And believe me—there are plenty of neurotic, envious people waiting in line to be “helped.” What the do-gooders and the do-goodies refuse to acknowledge is that they are causing the rapid decline of Western Civilization.
Destruction
All of this envy, jealousy and hatred have resulted in an altruistic banquet of sacrificial victims. I’m sure you’ve heard the old joke: What is a vegetarian? A person who eats only vegetables. What is a humanitarian? A person who eats human flesh.
Now modern altruists do not consume human flesh—at least I don’t think they do. However, they voraciously consume the spirit and wealth of the productive—of the lone individual who lives by his own effort and ingenuity. I guess you have to admit that altruists are “sharing” people. They share the wealth of others through the dishonest, devious methods of government interventionism. They invite the envious to join them in their cannibalistic smorgasbord of stolen wealth—and with vacant eyes of a never fulfilled lust, they gluttonously eat the spirit of the honest man and woman for dessert. Hey, I just described our political and financial establishment. Gee, I hope you’re not missing any internal organs or body parts.
The End of Government Interventionism
Here’s the fact we must face. All government interventionism must eventually end, either through the short-term pain of voluntary renunciation or the long-term pain of total economic collapse. There are no other possibilities. Tragically, it appears the American people have chosen the latter—maybe in a futile attempt to shift the burden to their children and their children’s children. Only caring about your own irrational selfish needs and not giving a rat’s ass about future generations —. Now that’s envy, hate and destruction run amuck.
I believe many are in for an unpleasant surprise. The treachery of the anti-life philosophy of altruism and its practice of government interventionism are already reaping havoc on our economy. It appears that they won’t be able to shift the total burden of collapse to future generations. That sad fact is that many innocent, productive people could also face the difficult times that come unbidden with economic chaos.

How Do You Deal With The Impossible Person?
Posted by Robert Meyer in Personal Strategies on August 8th, 2009
During difficult economic times, some people become frightened, stressed-out, critical, argumentive and just plain unpleasant to be around. Then, there’s that tyrannical individual, who makes unpleasantness a way of life. How do you deal with the impossible person?
The No-Win Argument or Discussion
Did you know that winning an argument or discussion with an impossible person is impossible? They will take the discussion to its illogical conclusion. Believing you have a chance to obtain a win-win agreement or a compromise is an illusion.
Now let’s say you prove an important point with logical reasoning. He or *she will make absolutely no attempt to refute you. Instead, he will resort to name calling and character assassination.
* I’m using the pronoun “he” for the rest of this article, although the impossible person could very well be a “she.”
Now, in the rare case where you are wrong and he knows it—be prepared for him to assault and drag your intelligence into the dung heap.
You are so offended by this unwarranted attack, that you unwisely make another attempt to prove your point. Guess what response you receive. Incredibly, the impossible person starts spouting abusive things about your mother, father, relatives, ex spouses, lovers etc. This abusive attack stuns you. You can hardly believe your ears. If you aren’t too shocked, you wonder if it’s possible this person is insane.
Now whatever you do, don’t attempt to address the issue again—since its possible you might become a victim of a physical assault. If this happens, you’ll question your own sanity.
Let’s face it. A person like this totally disregards the golden rule. He says things that he wouldn’t accept from you or anyone else. Try testing him if you have the nerve. (I don’t really advise doing this.) I guarantee he will become even more verbally abusive—and quite possibly resort to violence.
Have you ever heard of a victimizer switching roles and playing the victim. Eric Berne describes this in his book “Games People Play.” As to the violence, when you defend yourself he actually, incredible as it might seem, threatens to call the police on you. A person like this is not in the least bit ethical. Obviously, trading value for value is a totally alien concept to him.
Now this is really difficult to take. The day after the incident, this person will show absolutely no remorse or regret for their actions. An apology is out of the question. If you mention anything about the incident, expect another round of verbal abuse.
As you can probably see by now, a person who reacts in this way is constantly seething with anger and hate. He possesses a malevolent view of the world and as a self-defense mechanism closes his heart, mind and spirit to any self-improvement. Logic, reason, love, understanding, kindness, empathy, etc. are out of the question. He is so far gone; he will harshly criticize you for wanting to display these traits.
Now you may believe you possess plenty of help and wisdom to generously offer this person. However, as far as he is concerned all libertarians, spiritual teachers, motivators, trainers and self-improvement specialists are full of it.
You must face the fact that an impossible person is completely oppositional.
Why waste your time discussing anything with this type of a person. You are asking to be viciously attacked both verbally and physically. Whatever you do, don’t engage them. Walk away as fast as possible, if you’re able.
To Walk Away or To Not Walk Away
You know that once you are under vicious attack the natural tendency is to defend yourself. If you have any moral fervor about the right to self-defense, an impossible person can bring it to the surface. I know. I’ve been there. You have to be on guard at all times and control your thoughts, feelings and actions.
Here are a four possible ways for you to deal with an impossible person.
1. Don’t get involved with one in the first place. Unfortunately, this type of person might not reveal their true selves until they have you under wraps. Putting your heart on hold and discovering someone’s value system before you become involved with him or her is advised.
2. Once you discover you are involved with this type of person head for the exit. Unfortunately, because of certain external factors it may not be feasible to split the scene. You are currently trapped. If this person is physically abusing you, I would advise getting out whether it’s feasible or not. I would think that your life is your highest value. You certainly don’t want to sacrifice that.
3. Perhaps you’re a masochist and receive some perverse pleasure from the relationship. I won’t tell you to leave. However, you need to weigh the long-term consequences of your lifestyle and possibly receive professional help should you decide masochism isn’t in your best interest. If pain is one of your highest values—then your value system is screwed up. Ok, maybe that’s my subjective opinion—but…
4. This one is tricky. For reason of love or money, you may decide to learn how to handle this person. Maybe you’re already a master at getting along with an impossible person. I’m not sure about that. If I thought your method worked I would re-label the person as extremely difficult instead of impossible. Of course if you enjoy playing with fire—
Living the enlightened life means your existence is pleasure and ecstasy—not pain and suffering. I believe a relationship with an impossible person leads to nothing but hardship and misery. Do yourself a favor and find value for value relationships that are rewarding for everyone involved.

Karma, Government Interventionism, the Poisoning Our Economic System
Posted by Robert Meyer in Government Tyranny on June 14th, 2009
Have you ever noticed how the perpetrators of economic catastrophes are able to shift the blame to innocent victims?
I’m sure it’s occurred to you that our economic system is falling apart. Of course the ones responsible for it blame capitalism, businesspeople, greedy speculators, foreign markets, oil sheiks, oil companies, China, consumers overspending, consumers underspending etc., etc., etc. ad nauseam.
Maybe it’s about time we uncover those responsible for these crimes of economic mayhem.
Something for Nothing
How unfortunate it is that evolution, knowledge and individual experience hasn’t weeded out the “something for nothing” trait in most people. Have you observed the fact this undesirable trait is stronger than ever, firmly entrenched in the collective unconscious of the human race? Why this is so—I’m not sure. It could be that it is natural for people to attempt the “easy” way out of all their problems and challenges. Maybe the blessings of individualism, free enterprise and personal liberty and freedom haven’t been around long enough to become a permanent part of the human consciousness.
The great libertarian Robert Ringer laments that the human race may be a failed experiment. I’m not sure if he is correct or not—but he certainly has much justification for his pessimism. Of course, he obviously has some hope for the future or he wouldn’t continue supplying us with his wisdom and insights.
Think about this unhappy fact. As long as individuals continue believing they can receive something for nothing and that our government is a nurturing source of goodies and benefits—there will be sociopaths, charlatans and altruists ready to play the role of Santa Claus.
You know, maybe Ringer is right. It is understandable that children believe in Santa and all his helpers—but when adults embrace the Santa Claus myth, we’re in real trouble.
The Poison in the System
Obviously, government interventionism is poisoning our economic system. For a long time nobody noticed the patient (economy) was becoming sicker and sicker. As difficult as it is to believe, most people actually thought the patient was the epitome of good health. Now they can no longer deny that the patient is extremely ill, possibly on his deathbed.
Consider this. The American people have lost sight of what caused the problems. They no longer understand cause and effect relationships as it pertains to economic matters. Of course, the establishment deftly obscured matters to protect their own vested interests. Really, do you expect to hear the truth or any words of wisdom from politicians, government bureaucrats, “intellectuals” or the media? I certainly hope not. After all, there could be man-eating hungry lions in the den—hungering for some warm-blooded flesh—and still the establishment would try to convince you that within the comforts of the den, your salvation awaits you.
The Illusion of Government Interventionism
Here’s the way it is. Government interventionism on the marketplace doesn’t work, can’t work and never will work. From the beginning of time throughout eternity, it is doomed to massive failure.
Do you know that all interference with voluntary exchanges violates Natural and Economic Law—no matter what altruists, do-gooders and world-improvers claim. Ask them to supply you some proof for their unwarranted claims. Guess what? They don’t have any. In fact the causes of our current economic crisis are quack monetary policies, destructive regulation of business, deficit spending, excessive taxation, foreign excursions, drug wars, wars on poverty, Patriot Acts, etc., etc, etc.
Realize this. There is absolutely no proof that capitalism or the marketplace failed. If you were driving 60 miles per hour down the highway and someone shot out one of your tires you may lose control of your car and suffer immediate death. If someone spiked the sugar bowl with arsenic and you sweetened your cereal with it every morning—you would eventually become ill—and might possibly die.
This is what our government has done to our economic system. They have sabotaged capitalism—they have poisoned our economic system. They have prevented the marketplace from working efficiently for the benefit of all.
The Blame Game
By now you realize these victimizers are blaming the victims. Is it pissing you off yet?
In Eric Berne’s marvelous book “Games People Play” he describes the phenomena of how a person victimizes another in certain ways such as nagging, bitching, falsely accusing and other insidious methods people use to victimize. Finally a person gets fed up with playing the victim and fights back. This is when the victimizer changes roles and suddenly begins acting like a victim and transforms the original victim into a victimizer. It’s evil, but people do it all the time—and no groups are more proficient at this switch than politicians, bureaucrats and altruists. They are masters at playing the “blame game.”
Now these evil masters of the “blame game” are accusing everyone else of causing our economic woes—including the groups I mentioned at the beginning of this article.
Now imagine this happy thought. The evil masters of the “blame game” inadvertently gaze into a mirror. Suddenly they catch a glimpse of the purveyors of economic crisis and chaos—they catch a glimpse of themselves. Unable to pull themselves away from the horror of it all, they see reflections in the background—reflections of all the suffering they caused. They don’t know it but they have entered the ‘Twilight Zone.”
Finally to their dismay, they discover there is no escape from intractable karmic forces. They are quickly inflicted with the festering sores of their unfortunate victims. Miraculously, karma has cleansed the victims of economic mischief of all their afflictions. We finally realize justice for all.
I do have one question though. Can we ever forgive those who inflict so much misery on others?
